Anna Claire celebrated her birthday on Sunday, surrounded by her favorite people in the whole world! Naturally, the cakes had ducks on them; we ate fajitas and all the fixin's and half an hour before 25 people were to show up at my house, our toilets backed up and our front yard filled with sewage. There's just nothing like watching your daughter open birthday presents, while City of Houston public works employees stomp around in the muck, dragging hoses back and forth in front of the window.

Amazingly enough, a good time was still had by all and Anna was a trooper. She really enjoyed her cake. Her sugar rush took the form of maniacal laughter that began about an hour after her duck cake binge.
